Love it, love it, love it! It's always so nice to watch that unique sea! Keros was the center of Cycladic culture, with Naxos. That is why is prohibited to stay in Keros... Many of the statuette of the Naxos Archeological Musem and of the Museum of Cycladic Culture in Athens (the Goulandris Collection) were found in Keros, Naxos and Amorgo (that is another beautiful isoland). There may be not ancient ruins or temple in Kato Koufonissi, but I there is something about the place that is full of energy and very powerful. The rough coast, the turqouise sea, the wonderful landscape... I think you missed the Devil's Eye and Gala Beach near Porì Beach (next time you must go!) Koufonissi in greek means Cave Island, because the sea excavated many caves and holes, like the Heart shaped pool that you went in. I never dared to pass through the hole! Congratulations for your courage! Kato Koufonissi is wonderful and the wildest of all the Mikres Kyklades, just as Ano Koufonissi was in the last century. Thanks again for your Beach Adventures. Iassu!

We stayed in Artemida after flying to Athens from Mykonos for two wonderful days early September 2023. We really liked this resort. Our hotel was right next to the sea. Our room had sea views. There are some great seaside tavernas and beach bars. We ate too much seafood and grilled meat! Delicious food. The beach was beautiful, sandy. There were many places with sunbeds and tropical umbrellas for shade we could choose to sit and have a drink or eat by the beach. We did not had to worry finding a sun bed anytime of the day. The water was crystal clear. We felt really safe in this town. Most people spoke English and happy to help us. We found it really easy to get to Artemida from the airport, around 10 minutes away. It felt like we were in a Greek Island. Best to rent a car as we found there is plenty to explore. Through driving around we found Artemida is a large town with many different beaches and plenty of restaurants. We particularly liked the Island Basket restaurant (right next to the sea!). We definitely will come again and recommend, if you want to be seaside near the airport for your flight back home. Stay well my Greek friends!!!! 😊

Do not trust rome2rio or any other similar site. Perhaps for the largest and most standardized cities, but just take bangkok. I got totally screwed up info several times. Out of the way routes, non existing routes and wrongly placed bus stops. Same in Vietnam. Not even the local app worked worked as expected in Thailand. The same query gave different results at different times and missed the one bus line that stopped exactly where I stood and went exactly where I wanted to go. The infamous bus 8.

This is what happens when you elect someone younger and better to run a whole country. I hope this country learns that we don't need people like Biden or Trump to run this whole country. Younger people aren't voting and the older generation are the ones that go and vote. We need younger leaders and this can start happening in this great country.

I particularly enjoy your Greek explorations....And your Sri Lankan, Indian, Turkish...etc! Just heard you are going to Thessaloniki to begin exploring Northern Greece. We have been to the Halkidiki area several times, always in May when everywhere is resplendent in wild flowers; whole pastures of vivid red poppies and yellow dasies, herbs, cystus, acacia blossom, and pine trees. Listen for the nightingales . It's early for most tourists, so that's good too! Here are a few suggestions from our more limited explore. BEACHES: Kassandra Two that stood out for us here were Kalithia pure fine sand, no stones or weed, very shallow, lots of tiny fish that gently tend your feet, popular beach very few tourists when we wen, but by a small townt, Posidi beach, lighthouse, shells, small pebbles and fine sand. A wonderful peninsula of sand. Quieter in May. Sithonia : We discovered this magical beach, near Vourvourou It's Karidii beach. It's so beautiful. Surrounded by high wooded hills, with views of Mount Athos across the water. Fine sand, very clean. It has very interesting smooth rock formations that look like sculptures. Too cold to swim when we went, but great to explore, from the small lizards we discovered on the rocks to the walks through palms and pines, cactus, sand dunes Shhh; keep quiet on this one! ,SPECIAL WALKING/DRIVING areas: Kassandra: We stayed in Polychronos, There are well trodden walks around the hills here, particularly to a lake with larger lizards. The journey is beautiful; especially in May with so many flowers, butterflies birds and small furtive animals scuttling in the undergrowth. Good views of the sea, in the first part of the walk. The lake is not specyacular, it's the walk that counts!. There are two little churches on the way. which are open. There are other paths, to an old quarry, along the ridge of the hills, which are not so well kept up and need tough shoes. . DON'T go in the rain as everything turns to clay!! There are ecological areas in the centre of Kassandra, organic farms, some producing grapes, organic honey, even a lavender farm! little villages, gentle pastoral scenery, Easy to explore with a car and then hike through classic Greek Springtime, and meet up with the locals. We got a good car rental deal with Haniotis Cars, by far the best when we were there. We also hiked in Sithonia , all around the beaches and woodland, and also near the end of the peninsula; green hills with easy to see tracks overlooking the sea...,. On the way to Oranopolis, we went on the scenic route, avoiding Polygyros. Instead we took the more minor road past the second turn off to Vourvourou, but instead towards Pyrgadikia. This is an interesting road, gently undulating along the coast with small villages and quiet beaches, and inland too. Pyrgadikia is a little fishing village. Turn sharp left from the square and zig zag into the hills. There is a brilliant trail - and view - and picnic spot looking down to the sea, the village, and the coast line, all covered in fresh green and flowers. Lots of small paths here to explore and more off the beaten track!.Interesting churches too... And a castle nearby which we missed. If going to Oranopolis, take the first right and continue through more gentlly dramatic scenery. We also discovered Lake Kerkini, north of Polygyros, with so much wildlife including storks and pelicans, a chance to walk and explore.. Another favourite natural explore was the wild hilly area north of Polygyros , and also north of Leriissos, towards Stavros. Great to get into almost mountainous areas, steep hills covered in mixed woodland quercus oak and pines. Here, we discovered large cat footprints; possibly cougar or lynx? I hope some day to go further north, to wilder areas.... If I get time, tomorrow, I'll suggest a few interesting historic sites we saw, including the ancient Olynthos settlement with its fine floor mosaics [and turtles that will eat apples and flowers] , and Neo Fogea with it's Byzantine tower overlooking the sea, and the underground church where St Paul preached, the boat trip around Mount Athos, and the outstanding woman's monastery at Ormylia [actually in the little town of Vatopedi]. Here's a video showing much of the area in the meantime. German with Eng subs. Now shut me up! ua-cam.com/video/2INaKZ0xahg/v-deo.htmlsi=IJVD14yQ4iCSQHGY

Gabriel, from Thessalonili you can easily access Chalkidiki, it's only 1 hour by car and it is stunningly beautiful! The most beautiful beaches of Greece are in fact in Chalkidiki. Check out these: Kavourotripes, mega portokali beach, Vourvourou beach as well as in the first penisula, kalithea beach and paliouri beach. There are also plentiful cool treks to do there among pine trees and by the sea. You have been to pretty much every Greek island but you somehow missed Chalkidiki altogether. It's Greece's best kept secret, try it, you won't regret it.

Skyros looks amazing. Next time in Greece for me warrants a trip to the Sporades. Gabriel - when you're in Thessaloniki, I highly recommend seeking out the churches of Hosios David and St. Nicholas Orphanos, both in the Upper City. I predict you'll be glad you did. The former has one of the oldest early Christian wall mosaics while the latter has amazing frescoes of St. Nicholas which illustrate the Santa Claus 'origin story.'
